Waterpark makes a splash as it is named UK's best
Blackpool TourismA major tourism attraction has been named the UK's best waterpark during a landmark year in its history.
Blackpool's Sandcastle Waterpark has won Waterpark of the Year at the UK Theme Park Awards as it celebrates its 40th birthday. The accolade comes during a year of investment at the venue.
The awards celebrates excellence across the attractions industry, recognising the UK's best rides, parks and visitor experiences as voted for by the public and industry experts.
Kenny Mew, commercial director of Blackpool Tourism Limited, said the award was a "fantastic achievement" and a tribute to the "hard work and dedication" of the team.
Blackpool TourismMore than £500,000 was invested in the attraction in 2026, including a new changing village with upgraded cubicles and lockers.
The waterpark has welcomed millions of visitors since opening in 1986 and offers 18 slides and attractions in a subtropical 84-degree environment.
Mew said: "Sandcastle Waterpark remains a hugely important part of Blackpool's tourism offer, attracting families from across the country and providing a fantastic day out whatever the weather."
