Taxi driver arrested over passenger's crash death

A taxi driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, after his passenger was killed in a crash.

Emergency services were called to Thornton Road in Bradford at 10:17 BST to reports of a collision.

A 71-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the grey Toyota Prius, died at the scene, West Yorkshire Police said.

The taxi driver, a 72-year-old man, was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road remains closed while inquiries continue and the force has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
