A community group based across Lancashire has been created after the founder noticed a lot of women struggle with making new friends as adults.

Izzy Taylor, 21, from Clitheroe, is the founder of the 'Yes, I Can!' movement, set up to help tackle loneliness and form strong new bonds later in life.

When chatting about why the sessions are needed, she said: "It's a problem no ones talking about, it's harder to make friends than you think as an adult."

'Yes, I Can!' sessions are held around Lancashire offering three to four events per month, from community walks to pilates sessions.

The sessions have proved hugely successful, and what started as a small group has now become a tribe of more than 100 women.

Laura ONeil, from Clitheroe, joined because she felt she needed something for herself, as a break from looking after her children and caring for her disabled parents.

When asked about why she wanted to join the group she said: "I was struggling with my mental health and just felt alone.

"On my first session I was a little bit awkward and full of nerves but they soon disappeared when I met Izzy for the first time. We all had a really lovely time," she added.

Izzy's aim is to create spaces where people can connect and rebuild their sense of belonging.

She sees women go from reserved newcomers to confident individuals with blossoming friendships.

The group has helped build the confidence of so many women across Lancashire with member Laura saying: "I was really stepping out of comfort zone and I am so glad I did."
