Fire crews have managed to put out a large fire in an open field caused by farm machinery.

At 18:29 BST on Wednesday, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to a call about a field of about 27 hectares (270,000 sq m) of spring barley with multiple seats of fire on Drake's Lane, Cheselbourne.

Crews from Dorchester, Blandford, Sturminster Newton, Weymouth, Wimborne and Bridport attended along with small 4x4 pumping appliances from Bere Regis and Blandford, a water carrier from Poole and the Unimog.

The service said multiple beaters, hose reel jets and farm machinery had been used to extinguish the blaze, which continued until 19:44 BST.
