Man charged after taxi driver racially abused

A taxi driver was racially abused and assaulted by a 22-year-old man as people were leaving a festival.

A 22-year-old man has been charged after a taxi driver was allegedly assaulted and racially abused.

Kai Easen, 22 from Swindon, was charged with racial and religious aggravated bodily harm after an incident on Clevedon Road in Weston-super-Mare on Sunday at about 15:00 BST.

Police confirmed Easen was also charged with causing actual bodily harm, making threats to kill, and assaulting an emergency worker. He was released on bail and is due to attend North Somerset Magistrates' Court on 28 July.

A 21-year-old woman from Swindon was also arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on conditional bail.
