The Liverpool baby hospice, formerly known as Zoe's Place, will be able to support twice as many children and their families when it moves to its new site next year.

The charity, now known as Little Lights, was saved at the end of 2024 following a £7.5m fundraising effort.

Its new hospice, currently under construction on Eaton Road North in West Derby, will provide modern clinical facilities, enhanced family support spaces and therapeutic environments.

The charity's new chief executive officer Christian Logue said the new site - which is set to open in March 2027 - would help support more families and children from across Liverpool.

"The site is crucial and it will continue to do great things in terms of future-proofing our organisation to take forward and allow us to effectively double our capacity to reach families and support children across the city and beyond," said Logue.

Founded in 1995 as the UK's first hospice dedicated to babies and young children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, Liverpool Zoe's Place has provided specialist nursing care, respite services and end-of-life support to thousands of families at its Yew Tree Lane hospice.

The new centre, being built nearby at the former West Derby Bowls and Snooker club building, will include a hydrotherapy pool, providing therapeutic and sensory benefits to children with complex needs.

A dedicated cinema room will give families special moments of joy and shared experiences.

There will also be two Snowdrop Suites - private spaces in which families can spend precious time together and say their final goodbyes in peace and dignity.
