Two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with a number of wildfires.

Firefighters spent almost 24 hours tackling a series of blazes at Park Hall Country Park in Stoke-on-Trent on 19 July, which were all deemed to be deliberate.

A 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, both from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, Staffordshire Police said.

They were both questioned and later released on bail while officers continued their investigation.

"The amount of fires that have taken place in the area between July and August is staggering, and I want to assure local communities that we are actively investigating the fires that are deemed to be deliberate," said Ch Insp David Barrow.
