Nottinghamshire Police said a cordon remains in place after the attack in Outram Street

An 18-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed inside a convenience store in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Nottinghamshire Police was called to Outram Street shortly after 18:00 BST on Tuesday following the attack.

A cordon remains in place as evidence is gathered, with no arrests yet made, the force said.

Det Sgt Millie Gillett said officers would remain in the area to provide reassurance. She added: "People in the area will understandably be concerned, but we currently believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public."
