Man arrested by police after pedestrian hit by car

A man has been arrested by police after a pedestrian was hit by a car, leaving him in a life-threatening condition.

Cambridgeshire Police said officers came across the collision on the A15 in Peterborough just after 22:30 BST on Thursday.

A 30-year-old man from Peterborough suffered serious injures and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Peterborough, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Police said the collision involved a white Toyota Auris travelling southbound on the Bourges Boulevard dual carriageway, between the junctions with Mayor's Walk and Westfield Road.

The driver remains in custody and police are appealing for witnesses.
