'Dua Lipa used our confetti at her wedding'
BBCStaff at a confetti company were "screaming" and "happy dancing" when they realised popstar Dua Lipa used their petal confetti at her wedding.
The British superstar married actor Callum Turner at the weekend at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London.
Photos show the happy couple being showered with dried petal confetti as they left the venue, which was grown by Shropshire Petals, based near Newport.
Alannah Evitts, a marketing executive at the company, said she was "blown away" that "an international superstar has used our petals grown here on our Shropshire farm".
"We'd seen the pictures and more or less knew straight away it was our petals," Evitts said.
The team zoomed in on photographs, and spotted wedding guests holding sachets of confetti that Shropshire Petals supplies to Westminster Register Office - prompting "a lot of screaming" in the office.
Seeing any couple using their petals was lovely, Evitts said, but "obviously with a superstar like Dua Lipa it's taken that feeling to the next level."
PA MediaThe exact mix of dried flower petals used by the couple is called "Wonderland," Evitts revealed.
"It's made up of delphiniums grown on the farm," she added, explaining they are in the shades "Icing Sugar, which is the white petals, Candyfloss, the pink ones, and the purple petal is called Amethyst."
"We handpick all the flowers, and dry them, and then turn it into confetti."
Members of the public are able to visit their fields of delphiniums in the summer, with last year's crop being used by the wedding party, she added.
Seeing the success of the confetti business was "fantastic," Evitts said.
"There's a lot of work that goes into growing confetti, I think people don't realise that," she added.
"We start growing in November, put the seeds into the ground with our solar-powered robots, and then we weed them come spring," Evitts explained.
The flowers are hand-harvested in the summer, then dried on the farm.
"To see someone like Dua use them, it's pretty mega."
Ellen Knight/BBCEvitts hopes more people might opt for petal confetti thanks to Dua Lipa.
"Everything we grow here is completely natural and 100% biodegradable, and it's a beautiful way to celebrate and it's kind to the planet," she said.
The celebrity wedding may have already had an impact on Shropshire Petals, with the wedding photos sparking "so many new followers" on social media.
"I think people are thinking if it's good enough for Dua Lipa, then we'll have petal confetti at our wedding!"
