Tribute paid to Accrington hit-and-run victim
handoutThe family of a man who was fatally struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash have described him as "much-loved" in a tribute.
Matthew Weller, 44, died after he was hit by a VW Passat car in Accrington town centre after 22:00 BST on Wednesday.
The driver did not stop and Lancashire Police later found the car abandoned in Barden Road.
Muhammad Haarith, 22, of Exchange Street, Accrington, has been charged with the murder of Mr Weller. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Preston Magistrates Court.
Four other men who were arrested have been released on bail with conditions pending further enquiries.
Mr Weller's family said: "Matt was a much-loved son, brother, and uncle. He was a music lover and left an impression on those that knew him.
"Rest peacefully Matt, you will be missed."
Police are appealing for anyone with footage or information about the crash at the junction of Blackburn Road and Birch Street to contact them.
