A murder investigation has begun following the death of a man who was found with serious injuries at a property.

Officers were called to Wylds Lane, Worcester, shortly after 21:00 BST on Tuesday after reports a man had been found with life-threatening injuries, said West Mercia Police.

The man, who police believe to be a 42-year-old named Damian Buczek, was taken to hospital where he died.

Det Ch Insp Gareth Lougher said: "This is a tragic incident which has resulted in a man losing his life, and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time."

Lougher, from the force's major investigations unit, said officers understood the incident would "cause unease locally" and were carrying out a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened.

"We are releasing an image of Damian as we continue to build a picture of his movements in the days and hours before his death," he added.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw Buczek on Monday or Tuesday to contact West Mercia Police and asked people in the Wylds Lane area to check CCTV, doorbell and dashcam recordings.
