Trapped ducklings rescued from drain by fire crew
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue ServiceFirefighters have rescued a brood of ducklings after they became trapped in a storm drain.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to help a mother duck whose 10 ducklings had fallen into the drain on Castle Street in Reading on 28 March.
Thanks to the "quick action" of a crew from the town's Whitley Wood fire station, the 10 young birds were safely reunited with their mum, said the service.
The mother duck and her youngsters were later released back into the River Thames, it added.
