Tour de France trophy arrives at shopping centre
Stuart WalkerThe Tour de France Grand Départ Trophy has gone on display in Sheffield's Meadowhall shopping centre ahead of the race coming to the region next year.
The South Yorkshire city will be the finish point of the second stage of the Tour de France Femmes event on 31 July.
The women's Grand Départ will begin in Leeds in the preceeding day before ending in Manchester, with racers then heading across the Pennines to Sheffield on day two.
Sheffield councillor Ben Miskell said the event was a "fantastic opportunity for our city".
The 96-mile route from Manchester will pass through the Peak District before crossing the finish line at Attercliffe Common.
The trophy will be on show at Hollister Link Bridge at the shopping centre from 10:00 BST on 25 August.
"Major sporting events of this scale attract visitors, showcase Sheffield to a global audience and create valuable opportunities for local businesses, hospitality venues and the wider economy," Miskell added.
