Homes left without TV services after fault
BBCHomes in Alderney have been left without a number of television services after a failure at the local transmitter.
At least 17 householders have officially reported not being able to watch services, with reports first being made at about 11:40 BST on Sunday.
Engineers said a replacement part was being flown to Alderney on Tuesday afternoon, with services expected to be restored later in the day.
In a statement, BBC Distribution said about BBC services: "Our transmission supplier has informed us that there has been a hardware failure at their Alderney transmitter site impacting connectivity into the site."
It added: "They are working hard to fix it and replacement hardware is due for arrival on a flight on Tuesday.
"It is anticipated that fault resolution will be during the afternoon of Tuesday 28 July."
Kate HilditchResident Kate Hilditch said: "I first noticed it when I put the television on in my kitchen and thought well maybe it's the high [weather] pressure, as when there's high pressure the reception gets distorted.
"However, I went into the front room, where I have a Smart TV, and it did the same thing. It's unusual for all my televisions to go down and I thought that it's most peculiar.
"I then looked on Facebook, as one does, and saw several comments and nobody seemed to know what was happening or who to get in touch with."
'A pleasant change'
She added: "I'm in a good line of sight of the mast here, so I'm very fortunate really. I only need an indoor ariel to get quite a good reception normally.
"I checked my ariels and realised this is something bigger than that. I couldn't find anything on the internet."
Speaking about what she was hoping to do without servces, she said: "I shall keep up with some reading or paperwork.
"But when I'm in the kitchen I'll just have to listen to the radio. Maybe even BBC Radio Guernsey - that'll make a pleasant change I'm sure."
