Some bus services remain diverted after the sinkhole was found in Upper Parliament Street

A sinkhole that was discovered in Nottingham city centre at the weekend has been repaired.

Nottingham City Council said the hole in Upper Parliament Street was roughly 1.5m by 1.5m, and about 1m deep.

The authority said due to the location of the sinkhole, westbound traffic was stopped to allow the works to take place, and the exit for buses turning right out of Queen Street was temporarily closed.

A spokesperson said the road had reopened to westbound traffic, but a small area remained closed while the materials set, adding: "We hope the road will fully reopen tomorrow."

The council said buses had been using slightly shorter routes that did not include King Street and Queen Street.

Bus operator Nottingham City Transport said on Monday that while some services were operating as normal, others remained diverted, and advised passengers to check its website for updates.
