Deputy David Dorrity resigns from ESS committee

Deputy David Dorrity has announced his intention to resign from the Committee for Employment and Social Security (ESS).

He was elected uncontested to the role shortly after he became a people's deputy last year.

The BBC understands he has decided to leave the committee because of a lack of focus on savings from other members of the committee.

ESS has been contacted for comment. The resignation will need to be accepted by the States before it is formally approved.

If approved it will leave Deputies Tina Bury, Jayne Ozanne, Garry Collins and Tom Rylatt on the committee.

Dorrity will remain a member of the Committees for the Housing.
