A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was stabbed.

The attack took place on Thursday on Ridgway Road, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, police said, with their officers called to the area at about 19:40 BST.

The victim, in his 40s, was found by members of the public near Hanley Park and died at the scene.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Staffordshire Police said they were also trying to find three other men they believed to have been involved in the stabbing in some way.

Det Ch Insp Ian Fitzgerald thanked the local community for giving them information as their investigation began.

"I'd urge anyone who we have not spoken to and who thinks they may have relevant information to share with us to get in touch as soon as possible," he added.
