The Darkness believe in a film called He-Man
PA"If you think about it, who else could have done it?"
Guitarist Dan Hawkins said The Darkness were the obvious band to provide music for the new Masters of the Universe film.
The Lowestoft band's track can be heard at the end of the new He-Man movie, which stars Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes and Idris Elba.
Hawkins told BBC Radio Suffolk's Wayne Bavin that a mutual friend had suggested to the movie's composer that the band would be perfect for the film's finale.
"The composer, Dan Pemberton, wanted something quite bombastic and rock based for the film," he said. "He was talking to a mutual friend of ours about how he should go about the end credits and my friend suggested me and The Darkness and he (Pemberton) was like "of course it's perfect, they're the only band that should do it."
Amazon MGM StudiosThe guitarist said he worked closely with Pemberton to produce the song, with "lots of back and forth as there often is in film world".
He described the track as "galloping rock" with some inspiration coming from bands such as Metallica.
Hawkins said he remembered watching the animated TV show He-Man with his brother Justin Hawkins, the lead singer of The Darkness.
He joked that he may actually be able to afford toys based on the story now, having been unable to when he was a child.
The band attended the UK premiere in London last month, meeting the cast and director for the first time.
"I was really impressed, it's got a lot to live up to because of our nostalgic obsession with the characters that we grew up with and I think they've done it justice, it's an awesome film," he said.
