Drainage scheme for village flooded four times
Google MapsA drainage scheme has been approved to help prevent flooding in a Lincolnshire village.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), properties in Aslackby, near Bourne, have flooded four times in 13 years, including in 2024 and 2025.
Lincolnshire County Council approved the scheme around Temple Road, Aveland Way and Kirkby Underwood Road at a cost of £605,554.
David East, the authority's executive councillor for highways and transport, said engineers would be "repairing and replacing sections of pipework, improving parts of the existing network and putting in extra gullies to help pick up surface water".
"One of the big changes is that water coming off the A15 will be diverted away from the village drainage system," East added.
"That should take some of the pressure off the network and help reduce the likelihood of flooding during periods of heavy rain."
East said council engineers had assessed the drainage system and found some parts had deteriorated, with some reaching a point where they "could collapse" if repairs were not carried out.
According to the LDRS, the money will come from the county council's highways asset protection drainage budget.
