A man has been charged with murdering another man following reports of a serious assault.

Emergency services were called to a property in Embankment Road, Plymouth, at about 08:20 BST on Monday.

Harry Jackson, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mark Carpenter, 57, of Embankment Road, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' Court on Friday. He was remanded in custody and is due at Plymouth Crown Court on Monday.

Det Insp Jo Rotchell, from the major crime investigation team at Devon & Cornwall Police, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a person has lost their life.

"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Harry at this incredibly difficult time.
