Roebuck House is thought to have been derelict since 2013

A seven-storey former council office block is going up for auction with a guide price of £600,000.

Roebuck House in Abbey Road, Torquay, was constructed in 1971 and was used as council offices and a Job Centre but is thought to have been empty since 2013.

It was the site of a triple murder in October 1974 when gunman Michael Anthony Brown, who was wrongly convinced Job Centre staff were mocking him, killed John Leggo, 25, Sally Yeo, 25, and Kenneth Watkins, 40, before turning the shotgun on himself.

The site comes with planning permission to build 49 residential units, which was granted in December 2025.

The property - which is 2,880 sq m (30,995 sq ft) - is being offered for auction on BidX1.
