Wildfires break out as people warned to stay away

Fire crews are tackling two separate wildfires in Cornwall, with residents being urged to keep doors and windows closed because of a large smoke plume.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said crews were attending a "significant fire" between a golf club and a solar farm at Mawgan Porth. Firefighters have also been responding to a separate incident in the Porth area of Newquay.

The service said the Mawgan Porth scene was seeing "a significant smoke plume and the public are asked to keep windows and doors closed and not to attend the area".

Residents have been urged to avoid both areas while emergency crews continue to deal with the incidents.
