Delays on A1(M) after multi-vehicle crash

Part of the A1(M) was closed after a multi-vehicle crash.

The northbound carriageway was shut at junction eight for Stevenage in Hertfordshire.

It has since reopened but there have still been delays of 20 minutes and two miles of congestion on the approach.

Traffic had been diverted via the exit and entry slip roads as all emergency services attended the scene, National Highways said.

Hertfordshire Police said the crash affected traffic between junctions seven and eight on the northbound and southbound carriageways.

The force had advised motorists to find alternative routes.
