Crackdown seizes more than 500 fake toys
North East Lincolnshire CouncilMore than 500 unsafe or fake toys were seized by Trading Standards officers during two days of searches in Cleethorpes.
The items, which included Bluey and KPop Demon Hunters soft toys and action figures, presented choking hazards and breached registered trademarks, North East Lincolnshire Council said.
Many did not carry CE markings, which means the product may not have met safety standards.
One fake Labubu doll contained a battery pack which secured the batteries using gaffer tape, the council said.
Councillor James Sawkins, portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, congratulated trading standards officers for their work.
"As we head into the busy Summer season, we need to make sure our traders are providing safe, licensed products to residents and those visiting Cleethorpes," he said.
"This is a massive operation that has been successfully carried out by the Trading Standards team, taking potentially dangerous items out of the shops and off the streets."
