Woman in her 70s struck by car that hit tree

A woman in her 70s suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a car in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police said the Blue BMW also struck a tree in the incident at the junction of Narborough Road and New Fields Square shortly before 10:00 BST on Friday.

The woman was taken to hospital where she remains.

The BMW driver, a man in his 20s, was also taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing.

Officers said they were appealing to anyone who saw the collision or saw the vehicle driving beforehand, who have not yet spoken to police to contact the force.
