Southport Air Show 2026: All you need to know

Thousands of people are expected at Southport Air Show over the weekend for an event regarded as one of the UK's premier air displays.

However, three displays which were due to take place later have been cancelled because of technical issues and adverse weather conditions outside the town.

They are the RAF Tutor which was due to take place at 12.47 BST, the AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers at 13:16 and the 16:00 RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Sefton Council said its programme would be "spectacular" for "families, friends, aviation buffs, and first-time visitors alike".

The show opens 10:00 BST and finishes at 17:00 Saturday and Sunday.

Sefton Council promises high-tech jets, vintage warplanes and daredevil stunts that can be viewed either from the ticket-only cordoned-off beach area or any vantage point in the town.

It said everyone was guaranteed a "shared celebration of flight, skill, and engineering marvels".

Exact flying times will be published on the Visit Southport website or social media channels.

Some displays may be rescheduled owing to the weather.

They said they would continue to monitor the weather throughout the day and provide updates through the show's social media channels.

Other displays remain subject to weather conditions.

Tickets are £12, and can be bought online or on the day at box offices near the beach viewing area.

Children can enter for free.

Parking is £10 per day.

Drones/small, unmanned aircraft systems are strictly not allowed to be flown within the air show site.

Sefton Council warns: "It is against the law to fly them within the air show restricted airspace. Please do not bring them to the air show."

Displays include an RAF Typhoon and some of the first jets used by the RAF and World War One bi-planes will also be on show.

Among the daredevil displays will be Team Raven [the world's largest civilian aerobatic display team] and The RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team.

Fans can view replica planes and check out the Armed Forces Military Village.

Flight simulators offer a chance to feel what it's like to be in the cockpit and what it takes to handle the G-force.

There will be some road closures in place, so people should switch to following signs for the air show once they see them en route.

Southport railway station is a 10-minute walk away from the site.
