Police inspector denies child sex offences

Insp Scott Raghib has denied child sex offences and is awaiting trial

A senior police officer will stand trial after denying three child sex offences.

Insp Scott Raghib, 45, who works for Bedfordshire Police, entered not guilty pleas at a hearing in Northampton Crown Court.

Raghib, of Elm Way, Hackleton, Northampton, denied two charges of engaging in sexual activity with a boy and one of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of the boy.

A judge said a trial would be listed to begin on 7 February 2028.

Prosecutors allege that Raghib committed offences when off-duty in 2005, when the boy was 13 years old.

The judge, Recorder Cameron Crowe, released Raghib on bail pending trial.

He said a further pre-trial hearing would be held on 22 January 2027.

Raghib spoke only to confirm his name and enter not guilty pleas.

During an earlier magistrates' court hearing, Raghib's address had been given as Bedfordshire Police headquarters.

But the judge on Thursday said Raghib's home address could be reported after journalists from the BBC and the Northamptonshire Telegraph raised open justice concerns.

Raghib was arrested in June 2024, as part of an investigation by Northamptonshire Police, and suspended from duty.

The judge said the child involved could not be identified in media reports of the case.
