'Much-loved' grandad dies after being hit by taxi

A pedestrian has died more than two weeks after he was hit by a taxi in Leeds city centre.

Graham Jordan, from Brough in East Yorkshire, was injured when he was struck on King Street at about 23:35 BST on 10 July, and died on Monday.

The 73-year-old was described by his family as a much-loved husband, father and grandfather, who was an avid Leeds United supporter.

A taxi driver involved in the crash was arrested at the scene and has since been bailed pending further enquiries, police have said.

According to the force, a black Ford Tourneo taxi was travelling along York Place and turned onto King Street, where Jordan was walking.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries but he died 17 days later.

Officers have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the taxi the moments before to come forward.

A number of people were reportedly outside the the nearby Metropole Hotel on King Street at the time of the crash, police have said.
