Teenager charged after suspicious item found in Perth

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after reports of a suspicious item found in a property in Perth.

Residents in Fairmount Terrace were evacuated following the incident, which happened about 18:45 on Thursday.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended and a controlled explosion was carried out as a precaution.

The teenager has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

Police Scotland said there was no wider risk to the public and residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

A spokesperson said that there would be a continued police presence in the area while further inquiries were carried out.
