A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a spate of car crimes in Aberdeen.

Police Scotland said it had received reports of 11 thefts and attempted thefts from vehicles, the theft of a car, and a hit-and-run crash.

The incidents took place in the Craigiebuckler, Hazlehead and West End areas of the city between Friday 8 May and Saturday 9 May.

The man is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court later.

Det Con Andrew Yule said: "We understand how distressing this kind of crime can be in our local communities and take all such reports seriously.

"We encourage owners to review their own vehicle security, as taking a few extra precautions can protect your homes and vehicles. Remember to keep doors and windows locked, ensure no valuables are visible, and consider installing doorbell or security cameras."
