A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted grievous bodily harm

A 32-year-old has been charged with the murder of a man who died after being attacked.

Cleveland Police said two men were assaulted on Church Street in Hartlepool at 03:00 BST on Monday.

A 50-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and died on Tuesday evening and another man, aged 49, was treated in hospital before being discharged.

The Hartlepool man, who appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court earlier, was also charged with attempted grievous bodily harm.
