Man arrested for arson after fatal fire at hotel
DAVID CHAUA man has died after a fire in a hotel and another man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at about 21:35 BST on Sunday to a "well-developed fire involving a hotel and restaurant building" on Station Road in Steeple Morden, Cambridgeshire.
A man died at the scene and a second person was taken to hospital, the fire service said.
Cambridgeshire Police said a 44-year-old man from north Hertfordshire was arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life and remained in custody at Hatfield Police Station.
Det Insp Emma Garwood from Cambridgeshire Police said: "We are working with the fire service to understand the cause of the fire and are keeping an open mind while police and fire investigate."
Fire crews from Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire attended the incident.
A fire service spokesperson said the crews returned to their stations by 04:00 BST after extinguishing the fire with hose reels and jets.
