Mum and daughter to launch flower vending machine

A mother and daughter are to launch a flower vending machine in Telford next month.

Kim Sagar and daughter Sophie, from the town, set up SK Living Spaces, which said the facility had six refrigerated compartments.

Bouquets of flowers in the machine, by a town centre McDonald's entrance, would have prices visible and be replenished on a regular basis to make sure "the quality is really good", the mother stated.

The launch will take place on 3 October, with Sagar adding they were "already in discussions with two other locations" and that they had "big plans for the future".

The new machine will stay fixed in the same place.

Asked if they had to design it themselves, the mother said that there were already a couple of machines in Scotland and a few in London, but nothing in between.

"They are not as expensive as you would think... we've had it all bespoke printed as well," she said.

Sagar said all the compartments would be numbered for ease.

She said: "As much as it's about convenience, it's about making it easy for people to shop at any time that they want to shop, but also to have that real confidence that they are going to get a quality bouquet."

The family said it would "do other gifting things in there as well, so it's kind of watch this space".

The mother added that she had a "wonderful daughter and we have a really fantastic relationship".

"We've always kind of said it would be really good to do a venture together.

"We've talked a lot, we haven't really done anything, but... it was always going to be something creative because that's just the way we are.

"For years, it's always been about either designing and icing a fabulous cake or creating a wonderful bouquet for friends and family to enjoy, so it had to go down that route."

"We finally decided to bite the bullet and do this," she added.

"If you suddenly remember that you've got an anniversary or a birthday or simply just because you want to give somebody flowers, it doesn't matter what time of day or night it is."

Asked if she was confident the machine would be a success, Sagar replied "100%".
