Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a stabbing.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Birchfield Road, Wellingborough, at about 15:05 BST on Sunday, Northamptonshire Police said.

The man, who officers have named as 38-year-old Darren King from Wellingborough, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two men, both aged 20, who were arrested remain in police custody.

Det Insp Cheryl Thompson, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident which has seen a man lose his life and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.

"Although we have made two arrests, I would still appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information who has not yet come forward, to please do so."

A police presence is expected to remain in place in Birchfield Road on Monday, as the investigation continued.
