Hundreds of cannabis plants have been seized and four people arrested after police raided a drugs farm near Selby.

North Yorkshire Police said officers uncovered a "highly organised and professional cannabis cultivation operation" at a property in Doncaster Road, in Burn, on Wednesday.

The force said an 18-year-old man and three people in their 30s had been arrested on suspicion of cultivating a Class B drug following the raid.

Insp Rob Campbell said: "Discoveries like this highlight the scale and organisation behind cannabis production. These operations are far from minor or harmless."

He added: "Large‑scale grow sites pose real dangers to the community, often involving unsafe electrical alterations and increased fire risks, which can result in serious incidents such as power outages.

"We continue to urge landlords, letting agents and members of the public to report anything unusual or suspicious. Information from the community plays a vital role in helping us disrupt organised criminal networks."
