Steve Lloyd was found guilty of rape and engaging in controlling and/or coercive behaviour

A man who raped and controlled a woman over a nunber of years has been jailed.

The offences came to light after a survivor came forward and reported what happened, Staffordshire Police said.

Steve Lloyd, 41, was found guilty of rape and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour at a previous hearing.

Lloyd, of Packmoor, Stoke-on-Trent, was jailed for 11 and a half years, put on the sex offenders register indefinitely and handed a 15-year restraining order. Police praised the courage of the survivor for coming forward and supporting the investigation.

We are determined to seek the toughest possible punishment in court for those responsible for these types of offences and to support survivors as much as possible," Janine Shropshire, investigative officer at Staffordshire Police, said.
