DIY graffiti clean-up kits offered by council
North West Leicestershire District CouncilResidents will be able to tackle graffiti in their communities using new DIY kits being offered by a council in Leicestershire.
North West Leicestershire District Council said the graffiti removal kits would allow residents, businesses and community groups to safely tackle "low-level" vandalism.
The council said its teams would still prioritise "offensive, hate-related or complex" painting, but had set aside £5,000 for about 105 kits for the 2026-27 financial year.
The kits include a solvent-free, biodegradable graffiti remover, wipes and cloths, and protective gloves and goggles.
The Graffiti Removal Kit scheme is part of the authority's Love Your Neighbourhood campaign, and will allow residents to remove paint from suitable surfaces they own or have permission to clean.
Councillor for communities and climate change, Michael Wyatt, said low-level graffiti "can quickly make an area feel neglected".
"This scheme gives residents the opportunity to take pride in their area and act quickly, while making sure anything offensive or complex is still dealt with by trained council teams," he said.
"It's a practical, positive way for people to work with us to keep the district looking clean, cared for and welcoming."
