Police said 26-year-old Adam Khan, who lived in Luton, died on 31 August

Prosecutors have dropped a murder charge brought against a teenage girl.

She was 16 when she was accused of murdering 26-year-old Adam Khan, who died in Luton on 31 August.

Bedfordshire Police told the BBC the murder charge against her had been discontinued.

A teenage boy has also been charged with Mr Khan's murder.

Mr Khan had been found in a life-threatening condition when police were called to an incident in Humberstone Road in the town.

A spokeswoman told the BBC inquiries were still ongoing.

The boy, who was 16 when charged but is now 17, is due to go on trial in February.

Both the boy and the girl, also now 17, had appeared before a judge at Luton Crown Court in September.

They both appeared at a preliminary hearing via video link from young offender institutions.

Both had been remanded in custody pending trial.

A judge has made an order preventing either teenager from being identified in media reports of the case.
