Signal failure to cause disruption until midday
Getty ImagesA signalling fault in the south-east London area has blocked all lines through Denmark Hill, causing widespread disruption across parts of the London transport network this morning.
Network Rail said trains are being cancelled or revised, with major disruption expected to last until around 12:00 BST.
The fault affects Thameslink, London Overground and Southeastern rail services.
Network Rail said it was currently investigating the issue, which is believed to be caused by a power supply problem.
Thameslink said services via Catford would, where possible, be diverted between Elephant and Castle and Sevenoaks via Herne Hill.
As a result, services will not call at stations between Denmark Hill and Ravensbourne. Passengers may experience delays and cancellations.
London Overground services are also unable to operate between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction.
Southeastern services are affected as follows:
- Trains between Gravesend and London Victoria via Bexleyheath are cancelled
- Trains between Gillingham and London Victoria will not call at Denmark Hill
- Some services between Orpington and London Victoria are cancelled
Network Rail said tickets are being accepted on London buses at no extra cost via any reasonable route.
Passengers are advised to check their journeys before travelling.
