Road 'a mess' after wrong markings scrubbed off
BBCResidents have complained after their road was left "a mess" following the removal of school markings painted in error on a street where there has been no school for 15 years.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council was forced to address the gaffe on Greendock Street in Longton after the issue was raised with council leader Jane Ashworth on BBC Radio Stoke last week.
"It's a bigger mess now than when they put the lines down," said Paul Edge, who lives on the road.
"They've burnt the paint off," he said, "They're obviously going to have to come back and black it out, it looks a mess."
"I'm annoyed for the residents that live there that have been messed about but embarrassed that we made such a mistake," Ashworth said, speaking last week.
She promised to review how it had happened and apologised to residents.

Edge said he wanted to see it cleaned up and put right.
"I know it's only a road, but the thing is we've got to live here, we've got to keep looking at it," he said.
Some of the mess left after the lines were blasted off would be cleared up by a road sweeper, the BBC understands, but the remaining surface is no longer as smooth as it was when it was laid just a few days ago.
"Hopefully they'll get it cleaned," Edge said.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has been approached for comment.
