Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on A27
Eddie MitchellA pedestrian has died after a being hit by a car on the A27 in East Sussex, police have said.
Emergency services were called to the road, near the Dyke Road roundabouts, in Hove, at about 09:15 BST on Saturday.
A 59-year-old local man died at the scene and his next of kin have been informed, Sussex Police said.
The man is understood to have fallen from a footbridge passing over the carriageway, officers said.
Sussex Police said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
The A27 was closed in both directions for several hours, but has since reopened.
