Arrest after man stabbed outside fish and chip shop

A man has been arrested after another man was stabbed in a fight outside a fish and chip shop in Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire Police was called to Woodborough Road, Mapperley, following reports of an altercation at 20:30 BST on Thursday.

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with injuries currently thought to be serious but not life-threatening. Police said officers carried out searches and located a suspect nearby.

A 37-year-old man, who also required treatment to a head injury, was arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody.

Det Insp Ian Smith said: "We believe this altercation began inside the chip shop and resulted in a man suffering a nasty stab wound.

"Officers who attended worked quickly to arrest a suspect and detectives will now be analysing CCTV footage to understand exactly what happened.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information, or relevant CCTV, mobile phone, dashcam or doorbell footage, should please get in touch with us to give their account."
