Man charged with rape and murder after body found

Police investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in a house have charged a man with rape and murder.

Officers discovered her body at a property in Pinewood Road, Northampton, at 06:05 BST on Saturday 9 August.

On Wednesday, Northamptonshire Police named the victim as 43-year-old Kimberley Thompson, and specially trained officers are continuing to support her family.

Michael Thompson, 55, of Pinewood Road, has been charged with one count each of rape and murder, and is due to appear at Northampton Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
