Final chance to comment on island plan

People in Guernsey are being urged to take part in the final stage of public consultation on proposed changes to the Island Development Plan (IDP).

This last round of feedback allows the public to respond only to previous comments, the Development & Planning Authority's (DPA) responses, or the revised proposals. No new issues can be raised.

The consultation process began in June 2024 and has included two previous stages of public input.

Final comments must be submitted by 17:00 BST on 13 October.

Deputy Yvonne Burford, president of the DPA, said: "We're keen to press ahead with the focused review of the IDP as soon as possible to ensure that there is enough land allocated for the development of private housing, affordable housing and businesses."

Independent planning inspector Keith Holland said it "remains critical to engage in this final consultation so that we might move confidently towards the inquiry hearings, secure in the knowledge that we have received a wide and balanced range of viewpoints on which to base discussions".

Following the consultation, the inspector will produce a report with recommendations for the DPA, which will then decide whether to propose further changes in a policy letter to the States of Deliberation, who will make the final decision.
