David Ogbonna's early goal gave Sutton victory over Altrincham in the National League.

Ogbonna tapped home in the ninth minute after Alty keeper Owen Evans played the ball straight to Temi Babalola, who squared it to the far post for his striker partner to pounce.

Evans almost gifted Sutton a second when he spilled a cross at the feet of Besart Topalloj.

But the Kosovan was off balance as he went to shoot and the ball cannoned back off the post.

Sutton comfortably held on to record a second straight win to start the season while Altrincham remain pointless.
