Alex Lankshear played his part in a special day for his family as his debut goal helped Gateshead beat Woking in the National League.

The 23-year-old signed for the Heed earlier in the week and he immediately made his mark, hitting the target on the same day his brother Will scored twice on his league debut for Middlesbrough following his summer move from Tottenham Hotspur.

Gateshead goalkeeper Pete Jameson denied Matt Ward impressively to keep the game scoreless at the break.

Lankshear's big moment came when he broke the deadlock in the 55th minute and Woking were assured of a second successive defeat to start the season when Kyle Ferguson scored his first goal for Gateshead from Josh Home's pass in the 63rd minute.
