Blackpool secured progression in the Carabao Cup with a victory over Grimsby in their first-round tie at Blundell Park.
The visitors went ahead in the third minute when a low cross from the left flank was only partially cleared by Jayden Sweeney, with the ball falling to Niall Ennis, who converted first time.
Jamie Walker tested Bailey Peacock-Farrell twice from consecutive corners with efforts from the box edge as Grimsby looked for a quick response.
The hosts continued to push for an equaliser, but Blackpool held firm with their goalkeeper Peacock-Farrell in fine form to stop Harvey Rodgers at close range with the final kick of the first half.
Josh Bowler struck the crossbar with a powerful effort, cutting in on his left foot, as Blackpool went close early in the second half.
Bowler did get their second in the 58th minute, sneaking in to steal the ball from Sweeney on the edge of his own box and slot past Christy Pym.
Rodgers fired in from the edge of the area to give the hosts a way back in stoppage time but Kylian Kouassi prodded home from close range three minutes later to kill any home hope.
