The Artemis II crew described their journey around the dark side of the Moon and back as an "unbelievable adventure".
At a Nasa news conference which took place just days after successfully returning to Earth, the astronauts explained how they left as friends but came back as something closer.
As part of their mission, the crew took images of our planet like we have rarely seen it before, rivalling the iconic Blue Marble photograph, external captured more than five decades earlier by astronauts aboard Apollo 17.
But seeing the photographs from the two different missions side by side lead to comparisons, with many commenting that the Earth in 2026 looked 'sick'.
As BBC Weather presenter and space enthusiast Simon King explains, there are good reasons why they look different.
