Luton could not make their superiority count as they were held to a draw by Leyton Orient.
The Hatters made a bright start as Nahki Wells had two chances inside 10 minutes, while Jamie Donley volleyed wide.
Former Orient loanee Donley scored his first Town goal after 25 minutes, beating Nathan Baxter at his near post from Gideon Kodua's pass.
Luton should have doubled their lead, Wells scuffing a shot at the keeper, and Orient made them pay in the 34th minute, Jaze Kabia finding the top corner after Mads Juel Andersen was caught out.
Demetri Mitchell shot over for Orient before the Hatters somehow failed to make it 2-1 after 41 minutes, a corner headed against a post by Hakeem Odoffin and Kodua denied by a goal-line clearance.
Donley's low shot was well saved by Baxter, but Orient almost went in front in first half stoppage time, Idris El Mizouni's shot palmed away by Josh Keeley.
After the break, Wells had an early effort parried by Baxter, while Kodua curled off one target.
Luton huffed and puffed but were unable to find a winner, Callum Marshall sending a late free-kick into the wall.
